90 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Apr 2011

Deep, bright red-ruby. Lively aromas of cassis, black cherry, loganberry, chocolate, mocha and mint. Juicy, sappy and intense but young--in fact, almost medicinal today but pliant and seamless. Finishes suave and firm, with dusty tannins and very good length. Give this very promising merlot a couple more years in the cellar.

This Merlot shows power and polish, with lots of dense fruit aromas backed by sophisticated spice and toasty oak. The palate is chewy, with layers of blueberry, blackberry and black plum suffused with dark chocolate and vanilla. The tannins are generous but supple, resulting in a fleshy palate and long finish.

Gutsy but polished, with ambitious mocha- and vanilla-tinged toast leading the way for thickly layered plum sauce, fig and currant paste notes. The long, fleshy finish opens up in the glass.

Firm tannins and good acidity suggest you can enjoy this wine over the next 10 years, but with beefy flavors of cassis, blackberry and tobacco, you may not want to wait. Meaty on the nose, with ample oak spice and a touch of pepper adding to powerful fruit aromas and a long, spicy finish.

A deep ruby color introduces an impressive nose of earth, smoke and black cherry. An intense palate of cassis and dark cherry blends with integrated tannins and leads to a long, smoky finish. Would pair wonderfully with a braised lamb shank.
