Italian Sparkling

Italian bubblies have different names, all of which designate a very specific area (DOCG) and often a specific method. Prosecco is made in both fully sparkling (spumante) and lightly sparkling (frizzante) styles. The wine is produced in the cool hills around the town of Valdobbiadene and are generally dry but sweeter examples are produced. The Franciacorta region, located northwest of Brescia, is home to the largest segment of Italian sparkling wine production and uses the metodo classico- a second fermentation on the bottle. The grapes allowed are Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco and no more than 15% Pinot Nero.

Pop the cork for a celebratory toast, bellini, dessert pairing or for many foods even pizza!
