Grenache
This red bull escaped from its home of Spain and stampeded quickly to all other wine regions, where it eventually established its favorite destination in France's Langedoc and Rhone Valley regions. It is the second most widely planted vine in the world, but despite its wide travels it hates to be alone. The lack of acidity and body, and desire for universal acceptance leads this co-dependent varietal to a blended existence. Other varieties love to cozy-up to the Grenache because it's a sweetie whose sugar levels which easily obtain 16% alcohol in the wine.
