Aging

Aged in new oak barrels (about 35%) as well as in barrels of one or two years. After 12 – 15 months, the barrels are blended together just before the bottling.

Fermentation

After a manual harvest, a long and progressive pressing allows winemakers to select only the richest of the juices. The static racking, which lasts for 12 hours, helps to clarify the must which is directly put into the oak barrels for further alcoholic fermentation.

Ch?teau de Meursault, whose history goes back one thousand years, produces  the Meursault “Clos des Grands Charrons” from adjoining parcels located West of the hamlet of Meursault. “Clos”, meaning “closed”, refers to the walls bordering the vineyards, and “Charrons” relates to the ancient passageways  for carts  that  were used  within the vineyard. This Monopole,  or proprietary wine, is produced from well-drained gravelly soils of  hard limestone, which  contribute to its intensity and minerality.
