Originally from Spain (where is it known as Garnacha) Grenache is now grown in many other wine regions and is the second most widely planted vine in the world. It is especially well-known in France's Langedoc and Rhone Valley regions where it produces wines of exceptional depth and quality. The lack of acidity and high sugar levels make Grenache also an ideal varietal for blending. Grenache wines go great with hearty fare such as stews and wild game as well as mature cheeses.
