Overview

Established in 1978, the Rose family estate vineyards are situated on the banks of the Wairau River (pronounced “why-row”). Pioneers in the Marlborough region, the Rose family selected vineyard sites along the banks of the Wairau River to grow their grapes. This river provides the wines with a distinct sense of place and the river’s stratification is the inspiration for the new label design across all the brand’svarietals. The 2018 Pinot Gris is sourced from the Home Block family vineyard.

Aging

After blending, the wine was left to settle on light lees before bottling on the Wairau River Estate.

Fermentation

The grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the morning, and gently pressed and fermented in stainless steel vats. A small parcel was fermented and aged in older French oak to add texture and palate weight.
