Established in 1978, the Rose family estate vineyards are situated on the banks of the Wairau River (pronounced "why-raow"). Low crops and ripe fruit produce wine that has become renowned for exhibiting intense fruit characteristics and classical elegance. The palate is soft and generous with delicate primary fruit characters of wild berries shadowed by subtle toasty oak.
The wine aged in French barriques for 10 months. After blending, the wine was left to settle before bottling on the Wairau River Estate.
Grapes were harvested in the cool hours of the morning to retain vibrancy and focus. Gentle destemming was followed by cold maceration pre-fermentation, with gentle hand plunging to extract color and tannins. The skins gently basket pressedwith the wine matured in French Oak barriques
