TO BLEND OR NOT TO BLEND, THAT IS OFTEN A WINEMAKER’S QUESTION. Elevage, our proprietary red blend, explores the idea that multiple personalities can indeed coexist harmoniously in the worlds of wine. Take the austerity of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape, blend it with the roundness of Merlot, add the aromatic highlights of Petit Verdot and voila, a complex symphony is written. The 2021 growing season started as a classic drought year and what ensued to an early harvest. The result is a wine of depth and balance, power and grace. We had lower than average rainfall during the winter, and not a drop of rain from April through October. The arrival of more moderate weather in August and September allowed us to wait for great flavor development. Our yields were lower, but the quality was in credible with lots of color, concentration, and beautiful aromatics.
