Overview

The Garden Series is a Super Premium range of six Shiraz from six of the finest Shiraz producing regions in Australia. Bella's Garden reflects the unique terroir of Barossa Valley. Full bodied but very buoyant. Bright flavors are lifted and accented by notes of fresh blue and blackberry with hints of plum. Creamy complexity through the palate adds depth and interesting texture.

Aging

Aged for 17 months in French oak hogsheads and puncheons, w ith 13% new and the remainder in older oak.

Fermentation

De-stemmed, crushed and fermented in three to ten tonne open top fermenters, with regular pump overs (three daily over peak fermentation) to extract color, flavor and tannins. Some parcels had 20% whole bunch ferment and punchdowns. Average time ‘on skins’ was 14 days before the dry free run was drained to tank and the pressings combined. After 24 hours the wine was then racked to barrel, where malolactic fermentation took place. The bottled wine is unfined and unfiltered.

The intensity and vibrancy of this wine hits you with a wall of flavor. This Barossa Shira is an elegant wine of refined beauty and power that tightens up and commands authority. Sheer elegance seeps though the palate. The tannins start early and build momentum, drawing the wine through to an extremely long and detailed finish. Notes of blackberry are prominent where complexing notes of baking spice, florals, and black pepper add light and shade.

Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

Ripe and silky, the 2017 Bella’s Garden Shiraz boasts oodles of black cherries layered with loamy-earthy notes. It’s full-bodied and expansive but stays balanced, with supple tannins lingering on the finish.
